Audio and Video Recording Technology - The Gear You Need
Mr. Kyle Ratayczak
Growing up in Milwaukee, my parents made my brother and I a deal: we could play any sports we wanted, but for every sport we played we also had to play an instrument. Ever since I was a kid I've been a multi-instrumentalist - I've played in big orchestras, traveling Jazz ensembles, and garage bands of all genres. This experience taught me a lot about the effort and focus that it takes to be a musician. It also exposed me to music from a wide variety of genres; from blue grass and delta blues, to Flamenco and Hip Hop. I love it all.
Aside from music (and ice hockey) I've always been interested in technology. I remember floppy disks and DOS commands and that noise your modem used to make when logging into AOL. As I got older I realized that two fields aren't so different and, in many ways, they rely on each other. After graduating with a BA in English from the university of Wisconsin Milwaukee, I returned to school and studied Audio Recording and Music Production where I earned a certificate in Audio Engineering.
These days I spend my free time more or less the same way I did as a kid; jamming with friends, watching hockey, and mixing records freelance in my home studio. Working at Sweetwater has been a dream come true for me and I look forward to talking to you about how I can help YOUR music!
